A listener texted this dilemma for our listeners:
I’ve been dating a great guy for almost a year and we get along really well except for one thing – our views on the internet and social media. He’s eight years older than me but acts like he’s from a totally different generation when it comes to social media. He uses the internet to send email or find youtube videos to fix his truck while I document everything in my life on Facebook and Instagram. I’m no different than virtually everyone I went to school with, it’s how we keep up with each other.
My boyfriend doesn’t want me to share our relationship or pictures of us together on my social media accounts which kind of leaves me in the lurch compared to all my friends and their pictures with their boyfriends and what they’re up to these days.
He says it’s his image and to respect his views on privacy, and I get that, but now I feel that I’m being superficial and less than honest to have to post just images of myself on our daytrips and adventures. What am I supposed to do next month on our one year anniversary?
