Province Releases Coronavirus Information And Safety Site

The province has announced a new website to share accurate information with Nova Scotians about Coronavirus.

Due to a spread of misinformation regarding the illness, health care officials in the province are trying to calm the worries of many residents.

Dr. Robert Strang, Nova Scotia’s chief medical officer of health says while the threat to Canadians and Nova Scotians remains low, it is important to share and follow accurate info about the virus.

In the release, he says there has been no cases of Coronavirus in Nova Scotia and no transmission of the virus within Canada.

They also stress the importance of following steps to stay healthy as currently it is flu season.

Those steps include:

— frequent hand washing
— coughing and sneezing into your elbow or a tissue
— staying home when you are sick
— avoiding touching your eyes, nose or mouth
— not sharing items that may have saliva on them
— frequently cleaning surfaces like taps, doorknobs and counter tops

The website gives background on the virus, safety tips, as well as questions to ask if a resident feels they may have contracted the virus and steps to follow afterwards.
