Smooth Or Crunchy

I know not everyone is in favour of peanut butter. Some people have allergies, so they can’t eat it. That’s fair. But peanut butter has plenty of fans.

But I just happened on an article about Marmite putting out peanut butter versions of their spread.

If you are not familiar with Marmite, it’s a yeast spread, made originally as a by-product of brewing beer. It is a bit of an acquired taste. One of those things people seem to either love or hate. It’s a big thing in the U.K.

Anyway, Marmite came out with peanut butter versions. They started with crunchy, then followed with smooth. Which caused me to pause and question why they would start with crunchy.

Not that I am a huge fan of either. It really doesn’t make much difference to me. I like crunchy, but it seems that many of those around me are not fans, so I have stuck with smooth more to please others than anything.

So it surprised me to find that when it came to those eaters of the Marmite with peanut butter, crunchy fans have a narrow lead. Apparently, 52 percent prefer crunchy. But there were enough fans of the smooth that they felt the need to bring out a version because of demand.

It’s not something I had ever really thought about before. As I say, I like both, but I don’t really feel that strongly about it. There are those that do. So when it comes to smooth or crunchy, I’ll take either. When it comes to mixing it with Marmite… maybe I’ll take a pass.
