When I was a kid my grandparents had a small farm in Earltown in the hills North of Truro. Every time we made the trip to the farm one of the highlights was going over Nutby Mountain and I’d look for the abandoned farmhouse. It must have been well built because I got to see it every year from 1960 until it fell down completely around 2006. Photographers and artists have captured the deterioration of the house over the years and many people have the photo or painting proudly displayed in a frame on their walls.
That’s why my contribution to Cool Place To Visit on the internet is Abandoned Nova Scotia, a Facebook group. You have to ask to join, and they really only have one major rule – you can’t give the location of the abandoned house other than perhaps the county it is in.
It may sound strange but I can get lost on this site for hours and then wonder where the time went.
