I don’t know a lot about this flu-like virus but at least I spelled it correctly unlike one major world leader to the South of us.
Having been through the SARS epidemic back in February to May of 2003 I know that frequent hand washing and use of hand sanitizer is a good habit to get into now. Also training yourself not to touch your face is not a bad idea. I still have a box of N95 masks from back then. I wonder if they have expiry dates?
The experts claim that the symptoms are a fever and a dry cough, but rarely with sneezing or a runny nose, so I guess those last two symptoms are a good thing. After a week it leads to shortness of breath and that’s when some patients need hospitalization because of the chance of pneumonia.
I do worry about some silly things in relation to this virus. My car is Korean so if the supply chain from that country gets disrupted I may not be able to get my vehicle repaired in a timely fashion.
I’m not planning any air travel or cruises in the next year so that is one less thing to worry about. A road trip to Quebec is all I’ve got planned.
The mainstream media and especially social media tend to go overboard with their coverage of this global epidemic so make sure you are checking multiple sources for your information.
And just to be on the safe side, now would be the time to make sure your pantry is well stocked with food and toiletries. Toilet paper, canned goods and bags of rice are always great to have on hand and it takes a long time for them to reach expiry dates.
So , are you worried about Covid-19 coming to Nova Scotia and are you doing anything to prepare?
