It becomes an issue every year, but this year, the constant freeze/ thaw cycle has had the roads heaving on a regular basis. Something has to give, and usually it’s the asphalt.
Yes, it’s the dreaded pothole season.
It’s not like it comes as a surprise. It happens every year. Some years are worse than others. Some roads seem particularly prone to potholes, which probably has something to do with the fact that many decades ago they didn’t take a lot of care and planning in building some of our roads. They just basically ran pavement over any surface that was relatively flat.
I guess it’s our fault. We don’t make enough money to pay enough taxes to fix them all. Until we do, we’ll just have to put up with this seasonal annoyance.
For many of us, you probably already know where many potholes will pop up… or down, as the case may be. They do it every year. They might get paved over, but give them a couple years and they’ll be back.
And there’s always a few new ones.
So drive carefully out there. Pothole season is upon us.
