Police Seeking Information On Early Morning Car Fire

Parts of Dufferin Street were shut down Thursday morning as police and fire services investigated a vehicle fire.

At around 6:20 Thursday morning, BPS and the Bridgewater Fire Department responded to a call at York and Dufferin Street for a car on fire call.

When they arrived they found a pick up truck behind Baine’s Automotive engulfed in flames. Despite efforts from fire crews, the damage was extensive and rendered the vehicle unusable.

Sgt. Trevor Mitchell with BPS says they haven’t ruled anything out yet.

“We always consider a situation like this suspicious until we can find the reason why (it happened), which is what we are doing now,” he said.

Police say the vehicle was awaiting repairs outside of an auto repair shop but the fire broke out before any work was done.

No one was in the vehicle at the time of the fire and police say no one was injured during attempts to extinguish the blaze.

No cause for the fire has been released and Police ask anyone with information on the incident to contact the Bridgewater Police Services.
