The final price tag on the rebuild on a Canadian icon still isn’t known.
Bluenose II is two years behind schedule and the last estimate has the project near the $20 million mark.
It was originally expected to cost $12 million.
However, delays with the rebuild and problems with the steering have inflated costs.
Deputy Minister to Nova Scotia’s Premier, David Darrow, says he understands it’s been frustrating.
He says whenever a project goes over budget like this it’s troubling.
The Nova Scotia government recently took possession of Bluenose II – signalling the vessel is nearly complete.
It’s expected to offer public sailing tours next summer.
