My husband passed away eight years ago and because I had a lot of time on my hands I threw myself into helping my children raise their kids.
I’ve been very involved with my grandchildren taking them to sports and other extracurricular activities until last year when I felt I was ready to date again and met one of my grandchildren’s teammate’s grandfather. We now spend a lot of time together including overnights at my home. My sisters and brother and my close friends are happy for me, but my daughters are not. They put him down in private, compare him to their late father and complain about the fact that I’m not available as much for their kids.
I’ve told them I find their attitude and comments hurtful and I can’t believe that they are not happy for me. It hasn’t changed them at all. Do I really have to choose between seeing my grandkids or making a life with a wonderful man?
