What favourite quotes do you try to live by?
I think we’re all exposed to great motivational quotes from time to time. A blockbuster film that becomes part of the culture like Jaws and “You’re gonna need a bigger boat”
Or back in high school when you tackle your first Shakespeare play – quotes aplenty. But those are distinct moments in time and will fade with time.
The quotes that have stuck with me are from Dr Seuss, the late children’s book author. Why? Because the books were popular when I was a kid but I didn’t get a chance to forget them because I’ve had the honour of refreshing my mind with those quotes through reading to four kids and now two grandkids.
His quotes are short, snappy and usually rhyme. They’re easy to remember. Here are my top five quotes I use every day to live life.
