Wash Your Hands, Stay Home and Do Free Stuff

If you’re self-isolating for 14 days or perhaps just home with the kids for the next few weeks, here are some tips on some free (or almost free) things you can do to make the time more enjoyable.

First of all, on the warmer days get out and take a hike in the woods or a walk on the beach! We have so many beaches and walking trails that you could pick a new one every day for the next three weeks!

I have an app called Bookbub which delivers several suggestions everyday for heavily discounted e-books – 99 cents to 3 bucks, and even an occasional free novel to download!

If you’re missing the gym Youtube is your friend. You’ll find workouts that don’t need equipment other than your own body or sometimes something you can find around the house. Popsugar also has a free app and website with workouts. There are many, many more.

Videogames. Steam is free to join and you can download hundreds of free games. Itch.io is another site with hundreds of free videogames.

Want to learn something new? Take an online course. Teachthought.com has links to all the courses you could ever want.

Going through sports withdrawal? We had a great Facebook post last week on favourite sports movies. And the list of sports documentaries on Netflix is quite long. Or you could call up your cable company and drop an American news channel in exchange for a classic sports channel.

And I’m sure you have some great tips for our listeners as well.. We’d love to hear your recommendations on our Facebook page!
