List Of Cancellations Grows Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

Nova Scotia now has 5 presumptive cases of COVID-19.

This means results from testing conducted here are still pending from the National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg but they are presumed to be positive.

There have been a flurry of cancellations on the South Shore in wake of recommendations released under the authority of the Health Protection Act to prevent the spread of the virus.

 

As of the end of today March 16 the following closures are in effect:

  • Long-term care facilities closed to visitors
  • Daycare’s closing as of March 17
  • ALL SSRCE schools will remain closed an additional two weeks following March Break
  • In addition, ALL NSCC classes will be suspended from March 23 to April 3 following this weeks scheduled study break. Campuses will remain open at this time.
  • All dental offices in the Province of Nova Scotia

 

LUNENBURG

  • Lunenburg Arms Hotel and Risser’s Social Club closed till May 9
  • Town of Lunenburg Administration offices are closed
  • Any in-person engagement events have been cancelled, including Town events, workshops, and Project Lunenburg.
  • All Lunenburg Recreation facilities – Community Centre and Arena – programs, and rentals are suspended.
  • Town Hall offices will be closed to the public. The outdoor drop-box at the Town Hall, 119 Cumberland Street, for Town utility and other bill payments is available 24/7. For further information on bill payment options, please call 902-634-4410, ext. 221 or wmills@explorelunenburg.ca.
  • Fire inspections are suspended. In the case of an urgent matter, please call the Fire Inspector at 902-634-4410, ext. 222 or fireinspector@explorelunenburg.ca.
  • Building inspections will be prioritised and completed during the closure, if possible. If you have an urgent building inspection matter, please call 902-541-1325 for more information.
  • The Lunenburg Library at the Lunenburg Academy will be closed to the public.

 

BRIDGEWATER

  • Town of Bridgewater Recreations Programs Suspended
  • 902 Fitness closed for 2 weeks
  • LCLC March Break Camp cancelled
  • South Shore Public Libraries will be closed to the public
  • Lunenburg County Fitness classes cancelled at this time
  • LCLC suspending services & closing to the public as of March 17
  • The Bridgewater curling club has closed for the rest of the season.
  • Bridgewater & Area Lions Club Free Skate at the LCLC and Bowling on March 17 cancelled
  • All Public Gatherings at the Blockhouse Firehall have been cancelled until further notice
  • The Bakers Settlement Jams and variety shows will be cancelled until further notice.
  • Bi Weekly Jam at Mahone Bay Baptist Church cancelled until further notice
  • Riverport and District Fire Department Breakfast for March 21 cancelled
  • Bridgewater Baptist Church Sunday Services will not be open to public, but can be viewed online on their Youtube Page
  • Michelin Social Club
  • Bridgewater Legion
  • DeBrisay Museum
  • Kids March Break activities at the South Shore Mall

 

QUEENS COUNTY

  • Astor Theatre halting Movies & Live Events
  • Queens Place Emera Centre, including the Community Room, is closed to the public effective 5:00 p.m. today. Members will have their memberships extended for the term of this closure and other paid programming such as fitness classes will be re-scheduled when it is deemed safe to do so.
  • Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use Bylaw Public Meetings scheduled in various communities throughout Queens County over the next two weeks are now cancelled. These meetings will be re-scheduled when deemed safe to do so.
  • Public Works Building is closed to the public.
  • Liverpool Public Market Shelter is closed to the public.
  • Tax Sale Scheduled for March 18 is postponed and will be re-scheduled when it is deemed safe to do so.
  • Westfield Community Centre

 

SHELBURNE COUNTY

  • Municipality March Break Activities Cancelled
  • Shelburne Worship centre will have no live church gatherings
  • Good Doctors Shelburne
  • Shelburne Family Chiropractic
  • Trinity United Church
  • Most activities at the Shelburne Legion
  • Shelburne Public Library
  • As of 4:30 pm Mar 17 all municipal offices and facilities will be closed until April 6. In addition all interest charges for the month of March will be waived because people will be unable to come in and pay their bills.
