Health Foundation Hopes Radiothon Will Help Buy Surgical Equipment

The generosity of people is being called upon once again by the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore.

The CKBW/Country 100.7 Radiothon is returning for its seventh year.

This year’s goal is to raise $175,000 for seven pieces of surgical equipment for the operating room at South Shore Regional Hospital.

Development Officer, Alison Clements, says the community plays a big part in their success.

“If they want to do breakfasts, if they want to sell knitted goods or hold dinners, dances, whatever. We certainly welcome it.”

The radiothon is scheduled for February 14.

Clements says a major necessity is an ENT microscope.

“The current microscope that we have was actually purchased in 1990. This microscope will be used by three ENT surgeons, so it’s a very important piece of equipment. It’s definitely the biggest price tag item that we have.”

Other equipment needed includes a universal power driver for orthopaedic surgeries and a syringe pump.

Clements says people can contact the foundation at (902) 543-8065 if they have ideas or need help fundraising.
