For many of us, it’s been a disappointing couple of weeks.
All sports disappeared from the planet. The fishing season has been delayed. And the S.H.A.I.D. Yard Sale has been cancelled for this year.
I never would have called myself a huge sports fan, but I guess I must have been. I certainly miss watching it and repeats of all games just don’t seem the same.
I love fishing, but with that I at least console myself by thinking maybe it will help the fish to be left alone for a month or two.
But the S.H.A.I.D. Yard Sale, that’s a tough one. I love the yard sale. I rarely buy anything, but many years ago I got talked into helping out in the furniture area. The furniture area grew into it’s own building and there has been a core group of us that have truly enjoyed the arranging, the pricing, the insanity of the day itself, and then the satisfaction of helping to raise money for the shelter.
My dog, who by the way thinks this idea of me spending more time at home is great, came from the shelter. In a way, I feel I owe them for providing me with a friend, but, like many of you, I like to help the animals in general.
This will be a big blow to the shelter financially this year. Hopefully they come up with a way to fund raise later in the year once we put all this behind us to help make up for it.
As for missing out on some of those deals at the yard sale. Sorry. But just wait ’till next year. With an extra year for stuff to pile up in people’s basements, it should be extra good.
