Condolences are pouring in for singer Bill Withers who has died at age 81.
His family says he passed away in Los Angeles on Monday, adding they are “devastated” by the loss.
“A master of writing love songs, he loved music, cherished and protected his family, and our love for him is immeasurable,” says a statement posted on Bill Withers’ website.
He made waves in the 70s with hits like Lean on Me.
Musicians Lenny Kravitz, playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda, and the Smithsonian are among those paying their respects on social media today after news broke about Withers’ death.
"Sometimes in our lives, We all have pain. We all have sorrow.
But, if we are wise, we know that there's always tomorrow."
