New Website Connects Residents to MODL Projects, Engagement Events

The Municipality of the District of Lunenburg launched a new web portal – EngageMODL.

The website allows residents to connect digitally to the municipality and their various projects and stay informed on the happenings around the municipality.

Mayor Carolyn Bolivar-Getson says they noticed a drop in participation at their public meetings and town hall events, and felt the site would be a welcomed change.

She says, “With more than 50 municipalities across Canada using online engagement sites successfully, we felt it would be a welcome addition to our public engagement practices. The plan is not to replace in-person or phone engagement, but to complement it.”

The site is moderated by a third party to keep conversations appropriate, on topic and free from any harassment, and users register with their anonymity protected through their own chosen screen name.

More information on the site can be found at engage.modl.ca.
