My wife Karen and I have been putting our breadmaker to a lot of use lately! In fact we’ve made more loaves of bread in the last five weeks than in all the years we’ve owned the appliance!
I have to admit the first few times were a real novelty – the smell of fresh bread baking was a real treat. And slicing into a warm loaf and slathering a slice with butter is the best!
But then we got bored with white bread and decided to try some more substantial recipes. I paid way too much for some less popular flours to make seven grain bread and granola bread.
Well, the granola bread is the heaviest bread I have ever experienced – even half a slice feels like you ate the whole loaf! Not sure if we did something wrong with the recipe, but we won’t be trying that one anytime soon. I dropped a slice on my sock foot the other day and it hurt! That’s how heavy this stuff is!
