It’s William Shakespeare’s birthday. Or close.
No one really knows for sure. He was born somewhere around April 23, so that’s the date someone picked.
It’s also St. George’s Day, but there seems to be a shortage of dragons to slay at this moment in time, so I won’t dwell on that.
But there is something special about Shakespeare’s birthday this year. You can check out one of his plays online.
Tonight at 8:00 our time, the Stratford Festival are showing a filmed version of King Lear.
I know. Now everyone likes Shakespeare. A lot of that probably comes from the fact that the language can be a bit tough to figure out. Or that fact that many of us were forced to study some of his plays in school.
But there is a reason Shakespeare has stood the test of time. They are pretty good stories.
So if you are looking for something to do this evening, and you think you can handle a dose of forsooths and thees and thous, you can tune in tonight online.
Which isn’t so bad. Being able to go to the Stratford Festival without leaving home.
