Bits Of Colour

Little bits of colour, scattered on the ground. And a few on some branches.

Things in the garden are moving ahead. The Great Pause has not effected them. So I guess I had better get out there with them.

I checked this morning. There are leaves that were left last year as protection that need to be cleaned up. There is soil that needs to be turned. Probably could use a bit of fertilizer over there, where I hope to put tomatoes. And there are a couple other spots that could use some work.

The little bits of colour are trying, I’ll give them that. Around my place, the ones on the ground seem to be mainly different shades of blue at this point. Crocuses, violets, and a few other things I’m not on a first name basis with.

The forsythia is trying. The blossoms don’t seem quite as dense. Almost as if the plant is trying to say, “Okay, I’ll try it. But if I see one more snow flake…”

There are also other signs. The magnolia next door has blossoms that are about to burst open… maybe.

There are other great things about the ability to just get out in the garden. The smell of the soil being one. Feeling the connection to nature would be another.

But there is one big reason I like being able to get out in the garden, especially this time of year. There’s nothing to eat.

I’ve been eating far too much from just being inside. I really need to get out a bit more.
