Greenfield Wood Mill Taking Log Shipments Once Again

Great news for Greenfield – Only a month after announcing major shutdowns, Freeman’s Lumber mill is now back up to full operation.

Multiple reports say the Queens County lumber mill has begun hiring more staff after securing a new lead for chip sales.

While he declined to be interviewed when we reached out, Richard Freeman, vice president of Freeman & Son’s, did confirm they have begun purchasing wood again, noting many of their contractors have returned to the woods producing logs.

He says the mill began taking regular log deliveries as of may 4th.

This news comes after the mill found itself under harsh sales conditions following the shutdown of Northern Pulp, one of Freeman’s largest chip purchasers.
