Details Of Provincial Survey On Adoption Records Released

An in-depth report on Nova Scotians opinions about opening up adoption records in the province has been released.

The “What We Heard” report came out this week, and details details on the results of online surveys and in-person group consultations held last fall and winter.

The results showed that respondents overwhelmingly support open adoption records and access to more information.

82% of those surveyed chose no when asked if the current law gives enough access to identifying information,

The province declined a request to comment on the results of the study, or discuss any potential future changes as a result of the report.

Nova Scotia remains the lone province without open adoption records.
