UPDATE: Under Control, Firefighters Respond to Forest Fire in Cornwall

Update 4:47 p.m.

Cornwall and District Fire Chief Michael Wilson says his department with aid from others extinguished the fire at 3:15 p.m.

He estimates around 1600 square feet of forest was destroyed.

The scene has since been turned over to the Department of Lands and Forests who will continue to monitor for hotspots.


Firefighters have been dispatched from the Blockhouse and District Fire Department in response to a forest fire in the area of Cornwall.

The fire is reportedly in the area of Old Headline Rd.

The Oakhill Fire Department has been called to cover for the Blockhouse FD while they remain on scene.

Our calls for further information from the Blockhouse FD were not immediatly returned.
