Town Finance Officer Arrives At An Interesting Time

Bridgewater welcomed its new finance officer May 18, in the midst of a pandemic.

“It’s certainly been interesting. Most of the team is working remotely. We are all busy working on a re-entry plan so staff can come back to work in office and then eventually so we can reopen to the public,” said Kim Hopkins.

Hopkins, who lives in Conquerall Bank with her family, transitioned from a career as senior manager for a public accounting firm. During her time there she says she became familiar with the municipal world during audits but this is her first opportunity to work in it.

Hopkins is looking forward to being able to work on some ongoing town initiatives.

“Projects like Smart Cities and Energize Bridgewater are really putting our town in the forefront and being really progressive as well,” she said.

Looking ahead she said that it is her job to support all town initiatives, help the town grow and manage their finances properly over that period of time.
