Get A Flower!

My mother got a flower. A Nova Scotia Strong flower.

James and Tanya Grant of Milton came up with the idea of making and selling these flowers to help raise money for bursaries for those looking to study to become a continuing care worker or licensed practical nurse in memory of the two V.O.N. workers killed last month in Colchester County. And they have not had a shortage of orders.

You don’t have to buy a flower. You can donate to the fund at any Scotiabank branch. But the flowers are pretty cool.

They are beautiful flowers and it’s a great cause.

The only problem was figuring out where best to put a flower. A two foot wide flower needs space. And you want people to see it. Do get me wrong. This is a good problem to have. But it’s too nice to just put out back in the garden. Could put it on the garage door, but that’s open too much. Front of the house? Too many windows. So I settled on a tree.

I discovered something. Trees are not flat. Bit it’s a big tree and with a little time spent trying to find the right position, we finally found a spot with enough tree contact to mount the flower.

But it was a fun problem to solve. And above all, it’s a good looking flower.

The Grant’s deserve a big thank you for doing this. So buy a flower or make a donation. Just Google Nova Scotia Strong Flower. Or go to the Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/Novascotiastrongflower/
