The Trouble With Hobbies

The last couple of weeks have made me nervous about taking up any more hobbies. 2 of the biggest hobbies I got into over the last decade were pottery and screen printing.

Both were interesting hobbies and I spent a lot of time learning all the different aspects of each. But, like most hobbies, eventually I lost interest in them.

To be honest, it was less a case of losing interest in the hobby itself, it was more the ridiculous amount of cleanup time involved. I hate constantly washing and cleaning up over messy hobbies, so recently I sold all the equipment.

We had a pool for a while, but a pool is like having a child or owning a pet, you have to constantly maintain the thing. Pool is now gone. If I want to cool off on a hot summer day I’m only ten minutes from the ocean and five minutes from a river. And there’s always the sprinkler.

Now I’m looking for a new hobby, but it’s got to be one with very little cleanup. Any ideas?

What hobbies have you thrown yourself into and then drifted away? Are the equipment, tools and supplies still around collecting dust?
