Ready For A Haircut?

I’m almost ready. I certainly have more hair than I need at the moment. And, most importantly, I have my haircut mask.

It’s not that I have been totally without some form of face covering over the past two months. I have a buff.

For those not familiar with the buff (yes… those things they wear on Survivor), they are rather versatile. They are basically a fairly long tube of fabric. Kind or like a turtle neck. Actually, it would be like a dickie. Although a dickie tends to get wider and cover the shoulders. The buff is just the neck part.

But you can wear the buff as a head covering, a head band, a neck covering, or half way up your face. You could, I suppose, cover all of your face, but then you will sort of become a human June bug and be wandering around bumping into things because you can’t see. So just covering the nose and mouth is preferable to most of us.

As I say, the buff is versatile. I like it. You can wear it around your neck and if you happen to be in an area where you feel there are too many people, you just pull it up and you have something covering your mouth and nose. So I like my buff.

When they first announced the pending return of barbers and hair stylists, my first thought was, great! As the details emerged and I reazlized I would have to wear a mask I still thought I was ready. Then it occurred to me. My buff, which I really like, would probably lead me to something I no longer want… the mullet.

The buff, by it’s very nature, wraps around the back of the neck. That would prevent the hair at the back of my head from being properly trimmed and the result… mullet.

I have nothing particularly against the mullet. I’m pretty sure I had one at some time over the years. I have also had everything from a brush cut to a pony tail and a few things in between. I just would rather not go back to one.

So I needed a haircut mask. One that would allow the back 0f my head to be trimmed. I managed to locate one, so I’m ready to go.

I may not be first in line when barber shops open, but at least I’m ready when the time comes. I I hopefully won’t end up with an accidental mullet.
