Not being an early riser, I’ve never really given this a lot of thought. I’m also one of those people who can sleep through pretty much anything, so that side of it doesn’t effect me too much either.
When is the proper time to start mowing the lawn?
You don’t want to disturb people if you can avoid it, but the type of weather we had at the end of last week makes getting physical labour done early, when it is still relatively cool, pretty much a necessity. If you wait too far into the day, it gets too hot to be doing that sort of thing. But if you start too early, others in the neighbourhood… well, let’s just say they may not admire your desire to get the job done.
I never really thought about it much, but a woman in the U.K. recently posted online, asking what would be considered the proper time to crank up the lawn mower. There were a few who said 8:00 seemed reasonable. Others said 9:00. Some said it depended on whether she was talking about a weekday or a weekend. Everyone seemed to have their own opinion.
I would rather people not fall over from the heat, so if you want to get a jump on the lawn, go for it. As I mentioned, I can sleep through quite a bit, so unless you are running a gas mower over my body, you probably won’t disturb me too much. Others may feel different. I guess the safe way might be to check with the neighbours.
