Summer is here and a local business has the perfect way to get out and enjoy it.
Pleasant Paddling, located in Blue Rocks, is holding a kids kayak camp this summer while accommodating COVID-19 restrictions.
Owner/Operator of Pleasant Paddling Karl Marsters, said they wanted to make an accessible camp for kids to get outside in a safe fashion.
“We have about 50 islands here and we are going to be island hopping. Doing lots of nautical-based things including lots of beach time and flora and fauna interpretation,” he said.
The camp is geared for kids ages 11 to 14 years old and each session has space for two campers and two instructors to meet social gathering guidelines.
“We really wanted to do this but we were struggling to understand the rules and risks. Once the province came out with it’s guidelines for day camps we decided that what we are doing here would be a perfect fit in terms of balancing safety and health concerns and actually getting out there and having a fun summer,” said Marsters.
The camp will operate Monday to Friday 9 am to 3 pm. Two camp sessions are available; July 6-10 and July 13-17. For more information on the camp visit the website here.
