Running Together In Hope

If you like to run, why not lace up your shoes and help support a community organization that does so much to help those in need?

The Salvation Army Hope In The City Virtual Run is taking place July 25-26.

Salvation Army Special Events and Volunteer Coordinator Major Elaine Locke says this is the first time they have held a virtual run.

“People are still struggling and our hope is that people will come together virtually to support the Salvation Army despite the current situation,” she said.

Proceeds will go to support the Salvation Army and the programs it runs including food banks and shelters across the Maritimes.

“The funds will provide support to people in need during the summer, and with the pandemic they need our help more than ever. If you want to participate in the run but don’t live in Halifax we will be going by participants postal codes so the money will go back to your community,” said Locke.

Organizers ask that running groups be ten people or less to comply with social distancing rules. There are 5k, 10k, 15k and a 2k kids walk/run available.

Participants can register online here and complete the run in their community.
