Bridgewater: Town Seeks Input On Public Transit

Researchers from Dalhousie University will determine if public transit is possible in Bridgewater.

The Dalhousie Transportation Collaboratory will conduct a study for over $15,000 from the Department of Municipal Affairs.

The group began working this month and a public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday to discuss the initiative.

Mayor David Mitchell says a transit system would help much of the population.

“We know we have people who have felt marginalized or disenfranchised because of where they live and their inability to get to other places in town without public transit.”

Mitchell says Wednesday night’s meeting could help answer questions like where a bus should stop and travel times.

He says it was one of the major topics he heard about during his recent municipal election campaign.

“This is going to affect every single man, woman and child in this town and so, we need more than a dozen people at this meeting.”

The meeting will be held from 6-8 p.m at the NSCC Campus on High Street.
