Kejimkujik Seaside Reopens

Parks Canada have reopened Kejimkujik National Park Seaside to visitors effective immediatly.

A temporary closure had been in effect since June 2nd due to increased black bear activity in the St. Catherine’s area.

According to Parks Canada food supply in forests are increasing as the summer progresses and most bears have left the Seaside site in search for food elsewhere.

Still, they say there is some risk of black bear encoutners. They reccomend ensuring all food is stored securely in air tight containers, food waste be put in bear proof garbage bins (located in the park) and ensuring your pets are always on a leash.
