The Atlantic Bubble has allowed for the opening of summer camps and events across the province, including some in Lunenburg.
Well known for its role in the fishing industry Lunenburg also has quite the arts scene. People come every summer to take workshops at the Lunenburg School of the Arts which was luckily able to start its summer programming run yesterday.
Weekly workshops will continue until the end of August.
Operations Manager Katie Hall says usually over half of their registrants are tourists, which has meant a big change for this year.
“It has really opened the classes up for local supporters and we have had really great local registration,” she said.
There are workshop offerings for both youth and adults in everything from ceramics to screen printing. There are two exciting Youth Art Week workshops available: Creative Writing for Kids (with support from The Writers Federation of Nova Scotia) and Every Child Is an Artist.
Hall says they will be taking precautions to ensure public health directives are being followed such as limiting class sizes to 10, including the instructors.
“We have students at Saint Mary’s University making some masks up for us, and they are teaming up with the Halifax Distillery who are making hand sanitizers so each student will get a mask and a bottle of hand sanitizer,” she said.
There are still some openings available but they are filling up fast. To see what is available visit the website here.
