Square Foot Exhibit Showcases Small Scale Art

The DesBrisay Museum is putting a call out for submissions to its 2nd annual Square Show Exhibit, and just like the name suggests the art must be square.

Artwork is accepted in any medium including three dimensional, but the base must be 8X8 inches.

Summer staff member Angelika Oickle said the idea came from a similar show held in Mahone Bay.

“It was brought up by our Director and it was something we wanted to try, to showcase not just one artist but anyone at any skill level and be able to engage the community in a new idea,” she said.

Oickle said there was a lot of interest in the show last year and they received 138 pieces of artwork for the show.

“We are more prepared this year because we know what to expect. We have already received 111 pieces of art and we are going to try our hardest to accommodate as many people as possible.”

The deadline for submissions is August 26 in time for the show which runs August 31 to September 30. There will also be a reception on September 12, and artwork will be available for purchase.
