I Used To Be Cheap , Now I’m Frugal

I used to be cheap but now I’m frugal. There is a difference , at least in my mind.

There was a time that I would buy something because it was on sale whether I had a use for it or not. It was a great deal!! But if you have no use for the thing or it’s not something you enjoy then it’s a waste of money no matter how good a deal it is.

My wife Karen was looking for a new laptop the last few months. She had described what programs would have to work on it and how she would use it (mostly checking email or watching tv shows) and I finally sent her out the other morning at 7am to grab one at an unbelievable price! I have no idea whether it was a misprint or why this thing was so much cheaper than the others but I have to say after setting it up and giving it a run it’s more than adequate for her needs.

The same goes for grocery shopping. No matter how much something is marked down, if it’s not something we are going to eat or prepare for a meal I no longer buy it. Where I bend the rules a bit is when they are introducing a new food product and they tend to discount it to get shoppers to try it. I’m one of those shoppers. Always open to trying new things.

So are you cheap or frugal? What items do you pay top dollar for?
