On this International Women’s Day, the Bank of Montreal is out with its annual survey of workng women.
Its found a majority still struggle to balance family life and work.
BMO Senior Vice-President Sandra Henderson says less than a third of the thousands surveyed claim they aren’t getting proper family support so they can achieve at home and at work.
She says: “Most families … its traditional that women do it so they don’t feel their husbands or partners aren’t stepping in. But also, women don’t like to give up that control.”
The survey also found 68 percent of women working outside the home feel their employer takes steps to ensure they can balance responsibilities at work and at home.
However, many women would like better employee benefits, more flexible hours, more sick and emergency family time and longer vacations.
