From T.P. To Mason Jars – What’s Next?

It’s been an interesting six months of Covid-caused shortages. First it was toilet paper, then flour and yeast. Hand sanitizer was hard to find for a while. Carpenters will tell you that there was (and may still be) a shortage of plywood sheets and four by four pressure treated posts because of all the home Do It Yourself projects over the spring and summer.

Computer parts were in short supply for awhile, and some of the newer video cards and motherboards are still hard to find.

Then last week I saw a news headline that PEI is out of Mason jars and tops. Just as all those folks who planted gardens are harvesting it became difficult to find a way to put up all that produce.

The headline may have said PEI but I noticed that canning supplies were few and far between in the stores locally the last month or so.

What’s next? Will it be generators because of power outages from a hurricane (the Atlantic is full of storms right now) or will it have something to do with Christmas – perhaps some baking ingredient or necessary pan for making a Christmas goodie. I’m hoping it’s a cheese ball shortage, to be honest. Wouldn’t miss that at all.

What should we stock up on before the next shortage?
