Mike’s First Plane Trip Was Not Memorable

Later today (Monday) we’ll find out if we made it 14 days (2 weeks!!) without a new case of Covid! So let’s go back to simpler times. Do you remember your first airplane flight? And where were you going?

I barely remember my first flight. I was about to go into Primary at school, and my family and I flew from Victoria, B.C. to Halifax on military flights (so propellors!) It seemed to take forever with stops in Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and finally Nova Scotia, all at military bases.

Strangely enough, I still have vivid memories of the cross Canada train trip just nine months previous. It left a bigger impression on me than my first plane ride. I think it was because as a kid you had more to do on a train – you could get up and walk around to more than just a washroom. And the view while crossing the Rockies is something I’ll never forget.

Now, I can’t wait until we can all safely fly and travel to new destinations for work or vacation.

So, what was your first plane ride and where were you going?
