Lunenburg Arena to Reopen October 26

At Tuesday’s Lunenburg town council meeting it was determined that the Lunenburg War Memorial Arena would be able to open this fall in spite of concerns over COVID-19.

As case numbers remain relatively low Nova Scotia has increased the gathering limit from 10 to 50 people for sports and organized physical activity, effective October 1st, allowing for the traditional hockey, public skates, and other Arena activities to commence in a more normalized fashion.

It was also determined by the council that the ice surface will remain operational longer than usual with plans set to have it open until April 2020.

The recreation department will be reaching out to anyone who had a pre-existing ice reservation to communicate the new health protocols that will need to be followed.
