Christmas Eve Dinner – Is This A Thing?

A woman on Facebook started quite the debate the other day – she’s thinking of having Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve, the family eats, then they sit back and watch a Christmas movie.

Why? She felt she was missing out on quality time with the kids on Christmas Day because she was always so busy in the kitchen. She wanted to know if this was a “thing” for some families.

The response was somewhat divided. Some people said they’ve been doing the Christmas Eve dinner for years and love it because it takes some of the stress out of the Christmas Day celebrations. While others said that making Christmas dinner on Christmas day was one of their favourite things about the holiday.

Others suggested Christmas dinner was no more complicated than a typical Sunday roast dinner, so what’s the problem?

What do you think? Is she on to something here with a Christmas Eve Dinner? Or should we keep with tradition?
