The province is investing in community projects and facilities that provide safe spaces for those who need them.
The Community Facilities Improvement Program, announced last week, will see $910,000 invested in programs across the province this year to help them make upgrades to their public spaces.
The province approved 36 not-for-profit organizations for the new funding, all of which operate for community, culture and diversity benefit.
On the South Shore, a handful of organizations received funding, including:
- $14,500 to the Little Harbour and Area Social Society in Shelburne County for roof repair and heat pump installation
- $20,000 for the Milton Community Association in Queens County for kitchen upgrades
- $45,000 for Saint Joseph Parish Church’s hall in Bridgewater for flood mitigation and kitchen and heating upgrades
- $20,000 for the Trinity United Church of Canada’s hall in Mahone Bay for roof and flooring replacement
The funding program is made available through the province’s Culture Action Plan, and more information can be found here.
