Remember way back at the beginning of this year when the pandemic first started? There were news reports of people banging pots and pans on their doorsteps and from their balconies to show their support for the front line workers.
Perhaps that was the impetus for a small town called Harrogate in North Yorkshire, England where they came up with a planned event called Christmas Eve Jingle – they wanted everyone in the community to come out on their doorsteps and balconies at 6pm Christmas Eve and ring a bell for two minutes to celebrate community spirit.
The idea has caught on like wildfire and spread around the world.
It’s an easy and safe community bonding event that anyone can do, as long as you have a bell.
I really like the idea.
We’re supposed to limit our contacts and stay home as much as possible this year.
Now I just have to find a bell somewhere.
Does this appeal to you? Would you consider ringing a bell on your doorstep Christmas Eve at 6pm?
