Searchers Recover One Crew Member From Missing Scallop Vessel

One of six crew members aboard a missing scallop dragger in the Bay of Fundy has been found dead.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre confirmed the news in a tweet posted late Tuesday evening.

It says the search in the Delaps Cove area of Annapolis County continues for the five other people who were aboard the Chief William Saulis.

Officials say they received an emergency position-indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) in the area of Digby Neck just before 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Debris was spotted about two hours later, including two lift rafts which had washed ashore.

Three military aircraft, three Canadian Coast Guard vessels, and local fishers are involved in the search.
