Town of Bridgewater Selling Surplus Equipment

Boats, automobiles, and office supplies no longer being used by the Town of Bridgewater are now up for sale.

The town is following a directive from the Provincial Government established in 2011 (Public Procurement Act), that requires them to make their surplus supplies and equipment available to the public for purchase.

A full list of the items for sale can be found on the town webpage but there are a few noteworthy items that are likely to catch people’s eyes.

The two busses which previously operated the town’s transit route are up for sale after they were phased out upon the arrival of the new busses in December 2020. The busses are both GMC C5500’s, the year and kilometres were not specified.

In an interview back in December, Mayor David Mitchell said the old buses had multiple issues like inconsistent heating and air conditioning though one of them was in use up until the new buses could take over its route.

Two passenger vehicles are also up for sale;

  • 2009 Kia Rio – approx. 50,000 kms – not working, unknown issues
  • 2006 Ford Expedition, 5.7L V8 engine – approx 183,000 kms

All items up for sale will be sold “as is” so buyers accept all the issues with their purchases should they chose to do so.

Any prospective buyers can also set up viewings for the listed items through the town’s webpage.

Items for sale also have minimum bids, so the town is not obliged to sell any of its surplus items unless a fair price is found.

Sealed tenders must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. local time on Monday, February 1, 2021, in order to be eligible.
