New Collectable Coins Celebrate Iconic Nova Scotian Schooner

A pair of coins have been released to pay homage to the famed Bluenose.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Bluenose, the Royal Canadian Mint are kicking off a year long celebration with the launch of a new pair of silver and gold coins.

A pure gold $100 coin and a Proof Silver Dollar each share a photo of the vessel, which launched from the Smith and Rhuland shipyard in Lunenburg in 1921.

The vessel went on to become a prominent racing and fishing craft, and cemented itself as a Nova Scotian and Canadian icon.

The coins are available for order by visiting mint.ca
