Be Kind, Rewind

Anyone who ever picked up a movie at a brick and mortar video store knows “Be Kind, Rewind”. But try explaining that one to your kids.

Technology has changed our lives so much in the last few decades.

When I was a kid, my younger brother was the “tv remote”. Dad would tell him to change the channel.

In the early days I remember him sending us to the kitchen to ask mom for some tin foil for the rabbit ears so we could better tune in the tv station through all the on screen snow.

Once the internet came along, it brought with it new problems. Get off the computer, I need to use the phone. Or “Get off the phone, I need to use the computer”

When we spent time at my grandparents farm in the country, I had to be taught not to answer the phone if it wasn’t “our ring”.

Try explaining this one to the younger generation. The phone rings, you pick it up, and you hear the operator say ” You have a collect call from “momcomepickmeupnow” . Now that is going to be a long conversation.

What old technology and sayings have you had to tell your kids about?
