Valentine’s Day Outing Ends With Assault Charges

Love wasn’t in the air for a pair of Gold River residents arrested for Causing a Disturbance on Valentine’s Day.

Lunenburg District RCMP say 19-year-old MacKenzie Page Jennings and 19-year-old Daniel Dwayne Johnson face a number of charges including Assaulting an officer.

Police say a disturbance call came in Sunday of a man and woman arguing at a Cookville restaurant. Police attempted to arrest the woman, however she resisted, bit both of the officers, spit on one and kicked one in the chest.

The man then tried to intervene, and was arrested for obstructing an officer.

The pair are facing charges of Causing a Disturbance, and Jennings faces additional charges of Resisting Arrest and two counts of Assaulting a Police Officer.

Both were released from custody and are expected to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on April 14.
