The latest “big question” making the rounds this week is the question, ” If someone would pay you a thousand (or million) dollars to watch one movie nonstop for 24 hours, what would it be?
Sounds easy, right?
I pondered this one for a good hour and chose, then dismissed all kinds of films.
My first inclination as to cheat and put down the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy because I’d only have to watch it 3 times. Or pick a franchise like Harry Potter, but, again that would be cheating.
Then I went for long movies like Dr Zhivago, Bridge Over the River Kwai or Lawrence of Arabia but what’s the difference whether you see a film eight times or 12 times in a row?
I briefly considered films that feature performances or song and dance – thinks like Grease, The Sound Of Music, The Blues Brothers, Dirty Dancing but I know I couldn’t do 24 hours of it.
Comedies were a strong consideration – National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation would be a second choice for me.
Finally it came down to A Few Good Men or Shawshank Redemption.
And I know I could watch Shawshank Redemption nonstop for 24 hours.
