It scared me a bit. The news that Reese was changing the peanut butter cup. Making it all peanut butter.
For a second, I though maybe they were changing the peanut butter cup forever. Taking away the chocolate coating and replacing it with more peanut butter. But it’s just a temporary addition. Nothing to panic about.
I welcome different peanut butter cups. The more the merrier. Not that I am supposed to be eating them. But they somehow occasionally slip into my mouth.
There are a lot of different versions, particularly if you get into the home made variety. All bets are off when you’re making your own. But there have also been dark chocolate versions. And they have those thin ones. And thick ones. There was an Elvis version with banana cream added. A crunchy peanut butter version. A king size version. Many different versions.
They are the most popular Halloween candy in the United States, and they have come out with special editions on occasion, which is what is happening. They picked Peanut Butter Lovers Day, which was Monday, to announce an ultimate peanut butter lovers version of the cup. It’s peanut butter wrapped in peanut butter. I may have to try it.
As long as they don’t try to make it too much like the American version.
They can add the “s” if they really want to. But they probably won’t. In the U.S., they are Reese’s. Here, they are just Reese.
The big difference is, we get three in a pack and the U.S. get two.
Since there are never enough peanut butter cups, more is always better. They can come out with all the special versions they want, as long as they keep giving us three.
I don’t always eat peanut butter cups. but when I do there had better be three. Or more. More is good.
