Class In Session: Province Sending Students Back To School Tuesday

Education Minister Karen Casey says all public schools in Nova Scotia will re-open on Tuesday.

Casey says the Nova Scotia Teachers Union has modified seven directives and schools can open safely.

She says principals or administrators can arrive more than 20 minutes before and stay longer than 20 minutes after school to supervise children.

You can watch the full press conference with Minister Karen Casey below.

Teachers may also act as a teacher-in-charge if no administrator is in the school.

Casey says legislation to impose a contract on teachers would not be introduced today but would not confirm about a later date.

Meanwhile, Nova Scotia Teachers Union President Liette Doucet says students would not be left unattended.
