Extra day of rapid testing

After 3,000 swabs in three days, an extra day of rapid COVID-19 testing is being added in Bridgewater on Monday.

The testing clinic will be operating out of the Bridgewater Cineplex from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The pop-up testing location has been set up at the theatre since Friday.

Roughly 700 tests were conducted on the first day and more than 1,200 on the second day (Saturday) and more than 1,000 swabs on the third day (Sunday).

Organizers say once the doors open, the wait is roughly 10 minutes and results are sent to you in about two hours.

No appointment is necessary.

On Saturday, the province announced 148 positive COVID cases; 18 were in the Western Zone, of which, six were in Lunenburg/Queens.

“By getting tested, you’re helping us detect the virus early enough to isolate household contacts before they can unknowingly spread the virus to others,” said Dr. Robert Strang.

The pop-up location was deemed necessary after several recent potential COVID-19 exposures in the area.

Some of those locations include the Bridgewater Superstore, Best Western Plus in Cookville and both schools in New Germany.
